GRAMMAR - Regras da 3ª pessoa do singular (He, She, It) - Simple Present Tense

OBS.: Lembrando que o verbo só sofrerá alteração caso não haja a presença do auxiliar (does / doesn't) na frase. Sendo assim, o verbo sofrerá alteração nas frases afirmativas do simple present.

Exemplo:

- She speaks English, but she doesn't speak German.

- Does she speak French?

Confira abaixo as regras ortográficas do inglês ao conjugar um verbo na terceira pessoa do singular, no Simple Present, em frases afirmativas:

¹ Acrescentar -ES nos verbos terminados em -o, -ch, -sh, -x, -s, -z.

Ex.: * to go = goes

* to do = does

* to miss = misses

* to watch = watches

* to wash = washes

* to fix = fixes

* to buzz = buzzes

² Eliminar o -y e Acrescentar -IES nos verbos terminados em -y precedido de consoante.

Ex.:

to study = studies

to reply = replies

to cry = cries

to try = tries

³ Acrescentar -S nos demais verbos.

Ex.:

to play = plays

to buy = buys

to eat = eats

to drink = drinks

to work = works

to like = likes

to want = wants

to understand = understands

* TO HAVE = HAS  (She has / He has / It has)

**TO BE = IS  (She is / He is / It is)

O que seria a terceira pessoa do singular?

Os pronomes HE, SHE e IT.

He = Ele

She = Ela

It = usado para se referir a objetos, animais, fenômenos da natureza, ideias abstratas, etc.

* Kate's boyfriend = he

* Bob's girlfriend = she

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

O Simple Present é o tempo verbal usado para expressar fatos e verdades universais º, falar de hábitos, coisas que acontecem no dia a dia ou que ocorrem com alguma frequência¹, para se referir a eventos e horários já estabelecidos², e até mesmo para indicar instruções ou direções³.

Confira alguns exemplos:

0. Fatos e verdades universais:

- Cats like milk. (Gatos gostam de leite.)

- A week has seven days. (Uma semana tem sete dias.)

- The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. (O sol nasce no leste e se põe no oeste.)

1. Hábitos, coisas que acontecem no dia a dia ou que ocorrem com alguma frequência:

- I drink a cup of coffee in the morning. (Eu bebo uma xícara de café de manhã.)

- They study English on Tuesdays and Thurdays. (Eles estudam inglês nas terças-feiras e quintas-feiras.)

- She travels with her family every year. (Ela viaja com a família dela todo ano.)

- They never talk about their relationship.

2. Eventos e horários já estabelecidos:

- The party starts at 07:30 p.m. (A festa começa às 19:30h.)

- The bank opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 05:00 p.m. (O banco abre às 10h e fecha às 17h.)

3. Indicar instruções ou direções:

- Beat four eggs and then add the flour. (Bata quatro ovos e então adicione a farinha.)

- Turn left at Ross Street. (Vire a esquerda na Rua Ross.)
